NetWisdom Portal The NetWisdom Portal is the underlying engine of NetWisdom. Based on a JAVA Architecture, the Portal manages all SAN Probes discovered in the SAN and generates alarms based on user configured thresholds. The Portal collects SCSI end-to-end device conversations and link metrics from SAN Probes and Virtual fabric probes. It aggregates the metrics and saves them to a persistent relational database. The portal supports policy-based alarm trigger actions that notify users and/or perform more in-depth analysis of detected faults. In the SAN, the Portal aggregates key metrics for SCSI Initiators, Targets and Target/LUNs, allowing the SAN manager to monitor accesses to a server or a storage device. With these device level metrics, SAN managers can analyze exactly which devices are communicating through which link. User definable conditions are entered into a log for "out-of-bound" event analysis on monitored links. Alarm thresholds can be defined for any metric specifying upper or lower limits by frequency over time. Detected alarms can trigger email, recordings, or file logging and are stored in the Portals database.
