The Finisar NetWisdom family of performance monitoring products is designed to provide a new level of diagnosis and prevention of complex, heterogeneous, fiber channel SANs. SAN administrators can implement all or part of the NetWisdom family of products to address specific issues, verify service levels, and provide deep monitoring and analysis on multiple SAN tiers.

Acute brown outs and outages must be diagnosed swiftly, without vendor finger-pointing or time wasted in waiting for the appropriate analysis tools. Simultaneously, chronic problems must be proactively detected and resolved before they become acute.

NetWisdom Family of products provides the deep monitoring, analysis and diagnosis needed for today’s increasingly complex SANs. NetWisdom's architecture maximizes the SAN administrator’s ability to implement a wide range of NetWisdom Enterprise configurations, based on the needs of the SAN or SAN tier, and to add new components incrementally as budget and time allow.

NetWisdom Express uses a virtual software probe, ProbeV, to remotely collect statistics from fabric switches via SNMP. NetWisdom Enterprise uses ProbeFCX probes to view every packet on the SAN in real-time and collect protocol level metrics and faults. Rovers extend the reach of the ProbeFCX probes to large numbers of SAN links. Roving policies allow SAN administrators to tune the number of SAN links and duration of metric collection and automate the movement of the probe between SAN links. NetWisdom Enterprise Expert adds the Xgig Protocol Analyzer deepening the metrics further by performing detailed offline analysis of problematic storage traffic. Xgig SAN analyzers can extend their reach to many SAN links by connecting to Rovers. NetWisdom metrics are additive providing all the metrics listed if ProbeV, ProbeFCX probes, and Xgig analyzers are used.
